Toy Room

From Right to left – here is the toy room…all done!

A few touches on the boys’ bedroom and it will be done. The kitchen was almost done, but we found a couple more boxes in the toy room for the kitchen. And the living room had great progress made…but again, we found more boxes in the toy room. I sure wish the movers would have been a little more agreeable to putting in furniture, then boxes so boxes ended up in the right places…oh well. I suppose I should be grateful that all the big stuff showed up relatively unscathed. There’s been a lot of minor damage…and it’s time consuming to deal with…

I leave Tuesday morning to go to Kansas to get my truck, and drive as far as St. Louis for an overnight and then on to Indy on Wednesday. I can’t wait to see those boys! I’m so glad it’s finally close and I actually got so much accomplished.

NOTE: Since sending this to blogger and not publishing it, we cleaned out almost all the boxes. If the dang movers had been on time and/or not damaged so much of our stuff...we'd be done.

Alas, I leave in the morning to get on the road to see the boys! Can't wait! Fly to KC, drive to St. Louis for the night (purposely set up a stopping point so I would be inclined to stop and rest) and at Nana & Pawpaw's by lunch on Wednesday!

I must get on with the packing!

Well...

Let's just say, it's not all sunshine and roses here at the Texas-located Savoie's. We've had issues with the movers, and we're finding, there multiple issues with the packers. Usually, we find our stuff carefully wrapped and packed and if there is damage, we chalk it up to the hazards of moving and go on. Not so this time, so we're unpacking, and setting aside damage because NO wrapping was used in many cases - and making a list. That and the fact that our stuff was 2 days later than we were originally told...well, it's slow going.

On the plus side- the boys' bunkbeds are set up. We still need to go grab mattresses. This is their room...so far. Matt had to make some minor adustments to the beds.

Our room was the first to get done. Matt made quick work of getting our bed set up straight away so we could crash in comfort.

The toy room needs LOTS of help. It had the least furniture going into it, so it became the dumping grounds for a lot of stuff.

We've cleaned out some more stuff. The toy room looks daunting but we can get it. I leave on Tuesday to go meet up with the boys (by way of Kansas City and St. Louis). I can't wait to see them on Wednesday!!! Matt will join us for the weekend late Thursday night and then come back here.
Hopefully we can just knock it all out!

It's not huge, but the flooring is all new, it's had some wiring work done, the appliances are all new. It will work for the time being! We're so glad that this is behind us and we can focus on the next task at hand...unloading & unpacking.

Jake's & Nick's Adventures with Nana & Pawpaw

Again…I think they speak for themselves! J

Road Trip

So, it turns out that the road trip from Fort Leavenworth, KS gets REALLY boring when you lose internet/phone connections. This about covers the highlights…getting to TX and loading the trailer back up after our overnight in Tucumcari, NM.

We found a house when we got here today and we’ll finish up the dreaded paperwork tomorrow (Saturday). I’ll take pics this time – we walked to housing, so I didn’t have my camera. It’s exciting!

Stay tuned…oh and there’s a few more from the boys’ adventures coming right up, too!

Happy Picture

If you know ANYTHING about me, you know that unless I'm driving, I fall asleep pretty quickly in the car. So, Matt is probably glad that I have wireless internet, my laptop (I'm gonna have to charge up here in a minute) and a cell phone to entertain me. I'm staying awake with him, even though I'm exhausted...

We're on the way to TX - about 3.5 hours into our journey with just over 400 more miles to go for our stopping point tonite. We've talked to housing on the other end and they are holding a house for us when we get there tomorrow afternoon! WOOHOOO!!!

Sad Pictures

Our empty house...

As I walked around taking the pictures, I was remembering all the good times - starting with walking in for the very first time.

We made some great Army friends this year - and it may not have been the BEST year of my life, as it was billed, but it was a GREAT year. We had a lot of great times!

Goodbyes SUCK...so, we'll see ya later!

Just for Jake & Nick

Here's our truck, guys! And a picture of your picnic table on the truck.

Mr. David (the driver) will take GREAT care of all our stuff! Daddy & I will meet it at the new house (we'll send you pictures!)

Love

Momma & Daddy
