Cookie time

You can’t tell from the picture, but we made BLUE cut-out cookies. We needed a project and Jake was asking for snowman cookies. So, we got some animal cookie cutters.

Cold Nick

We played out when we had a warmer day – as it turned out, it wasn’t as warm as we thought and poor Nick’s hands froze. So we came in early…and I covered him in a blanket. He was looking a lot more cold when I went for the camera, but ham that he is, as soon as it was poised, he posed!

Firemen!

I looked long and hard for these. The boys are completely enamored with fire men and fire trucks. When I found these play outfits, I knew they would be great!

We had a fire alarm last weekend. Luckily it was while Matt was home since it happened as we were laying down for naps. Matt got the boys redressed while I gathered the computer and hard drive, coats, keys, etc. It was a false alarm – no fire was found!

New Trike

Nick’s Christmas present from Nana & Pawpaw – he had to wait a little bit extra to get it so we could get it home! He LOVES it, now!

Travelling...

Some shots of the boys while we were travelling…

Missed Photos

I was finally getting around to updating the blog when I found these pics from Christmas Break. Uncle Sean sent Nick a (play) chain saw – complete with noise and goggles. Seeing Nick in the goggles cracked me up…again!

MORE Snow?!??

If you know anything about me, you know I much prefer my life south of the Mason Dixon Line – after all, I was in GA for 8 years, TX for 6 ½ and then AR for 1 ½ . That said, I embraced a year, here at Ft. Leavenworth, knowing that winter in the Midwest/Great Plains would be different than TX and AR.

NOTHING could have really prepared me for this year – so far. Matt left for Germany at the end of November, the first week of December we had 4-6 inches. While we were on vacation in Ohio/Indy, the area accumulated 9-12 inches – that really had nowhere to go, because temps dropped. We returned home on Saturday and yesterday, we had another 4 inches on top of what was here and what drifted with all the wind.

Here are pics – and these are BEFORE the latest 4 inches and 20-40 mph winds that are occurring today.

I must say, I’m very proud of myself. I ventured out yesterday IN the snow to take the boys to hourly care so I could attempt to get some work done around the house. A change of pace does us good… Today, I ventured out when nearly everything in the area had shut down to take them again…in hopes I could get somewhat organized with all our Christmas Loot! J At any rate – I, the girl who now declares herself “from TX”, ventured out on snow/sand covered roads in windy/cold conditions in the car – and successfully BACKED the SUV in the spot with only one correction. I’m getting there…this won’t be my choice forever…but I’m learning to deal – sort of!

Out the SUV window (I was stopped at a light NOT driving...)

Commissary Parking Lot - note the drifts in relation to the signs marking parking spots

I waited for that SUV to move - but it kind of makes my point for me...

I think this one is at the PX - at least the lot is mostly cleared, right?
