The trip of the year...

Sometimes, I can be a little over-ambitious on what I think I can accomplish with the boys in tow. Luckily, this time, I thought ahead...otherwise the trip to Chicago DEFINITELY would have taught me...

Uncle Sean flew in to Little Rock Wednesday night, and Thursday morning, we started off on our trek. I was a little off my game - and that was even after about 5 more trips inside with Sean and the boys in the truck ready to go...should have gone back in another time or two...

The plan was to take three days - stopping in Oklahoma City & Albuquerque before arriving in Scottsdale. AFter we'd been on the road a while, Sean says - hey, we're getting in so early - let's just cruise on in to Amarillo. So we did - and I rearranged our hotel stays but we decide not to tell Mom.

As we're about 1 hour from Oklahoma City, Jake says "I want Bear Bear" - I turn around to help get Bear Bear and my heart STOPS - Bear Bear is in LITTLE ROCK. So, we start thinking - I text Mom to get to the store asap and get Matt to pack Bear Bear in his stuff when he comes out on Wednesday. What I'll do until Wednesday...I'll think of that later.

Nana comes through with the address for Brookstone in Oklahoma City - that's great, except we weren't planning on stopping. Uncle Sean decides we can vary our trip that long (besides, we need gas, if we can get correct directions to get there...). We succeeded in obtaining a Bear Bear - and saved the trip.

On to Amarillo - we got in at 9pm and it was soooo cold. Sean loads up as much as he can - all of our quick stop stuff strapped to him by some fashion and his suitcase. We get the boys out who had fallen asleep. Jake walks inside but then decided he wanted SEan to carry him - so Uncle Sean moves his suitcase under his arm and picks Jake up. I have a few bags and a Nick thath I'm about to drop to load on the elevator - just imagine...we wished we had the camera - but that's another reason I should have gone back inside. It too, is in Little Rock until Matt gets here.

Today, was another long drive. Uncle Sean pressed on and the boys did remarkably well in the car. WE had a few moments, but luckily the traffic was on our side and we had no major problems. We arrived safely, surprised Nana and got to eat Pizza! The boys were very glad to get out of their seats and are sound asleep now. Nick in a pack n play in my room and Jake on his "Vacation Bed" in Bapaw & Nana's Room. We'll have to find out the real story tomorrow because if he didn't lay down, he was going to have to sleep in my room, too! :)

I'm sure we'll have more stories as the next 2 weeks carry on. Up tomorrow, I think, is putting together Jake's big wheel and Mommy says he needs a hair cut!

Our Trip to Chicago

Chris & the boys headed out to Chicago last Thursday with a stayover in St. Louis to break up the drive. We had a GREAT time!!

The hotel in St. Louis was fabulous to us - even getting milk for Nick from a convenience store down the street for us - saving me the hassle with the boys. They even had little toys for each of the boys - which they loved.

We got to see lots of family and the boys really enjoyed it. Nick, unfortunately was sick, but as long as we kept his fever was down, he was his happy giggly self. Jake kept everyone in stitches with his antics and his ability to mimic ANYTHING he hears! And Jake enjoyed his Vacation Bed immensely - even wanting to sleep in it once we got home.

Matt was able to join us Friday, so he was around for all the fun of the weekend. And most importantly, he was able to assist in the drive back. I seriously underestimated the complications of doing that on my own - at least until Nick is a little bit bigger.

Sorry - no pics to share this time. We have about enough time to get through laundry before we need to pack up and head to Scottsdale for Thanksgiving. Uncle Sean is flying in to make the drive with us - he doesn't know what awaits!

Birthday Cake

Nick doesn't like Birthday cake - just like his Mommy at his age! I finally got him to taste some frosting which licked enthusiastically but didn't want any more and then he played with the frosting. Jake polished off his piece and Nick's piece - so at least it doesn't go to waste! :)

Happy Birthday Nick!!

Just some shots of Nick (& Jake) enjoying Nick's birthday presents!!

Happy Halloween!!!

Nick's costume was just a sweatsuit we found at BAbies R Us - Jake was a Japanese Hibachi Chef (Mommy made the hat and the apron). Jake loves to mimic the chefs when we eat at a Japanese place...he uses his fork as a spatula when he gets his rice...it's pretty amusing.

We went trick or treating at the zoo and the boys had a blast.

Jake even got to ride his first "roller coaster". we had passed by one ride he was too short for - the very next ride he pulled on my arm and said "ride this" - he had no idea. He had to ride by himself and he grinned like the cheshire cat the whole time -except for when his mouth formed an "O" at certain points. And we of course enjoyed our loot!

Look Who's ONE!

I can hardly believe it myself...Baby Nick is ONE year old!!! Pictures of cake & presents will follow in future posts!

Starting with a funny story...

I know it's been a while since I've updated. Things got really busy around here - I had a sewing project I was trying hard to finish...

So, these boys were playing in their tent this afternoon while I was decorating Nick's cake. Matt came in the kitchen and nearly fell over from laughter trying to tell me this story:

Jake leaned his head out the window and said "Chicken happy meal, please" "White milk, please"

Do you think we visit the Golden Arches too often? Sometimes I wish we had a nanny cam just to catch the hilarity.
