Update

I feel like I do updates rather than stories here lately. Like the boys, I'm catching everything the kids bring into school...it's exhausting!

Nick is finally walking more than crawling. He's a hit at school. Ms. Blake didn't think Nick liked her before he got in her room, but they became fast friends. (It helps she lets him play with her cell phone...)

Jake is doing well in his class. He is regularly talking our ears off. It's a lot of fun to hear him put together sentences and thoughts. It's a little harder to catch, but he sings a lot too. Sometimes it's made up - sometimes it's a song from school.

They both had ear infections again - diagnosed last Friday. They go back again on Thursday for a recheck. I'm starting to get anxious about Nick's - his other procedure is fast approaching. I can't have him sick for that an unable to get it...

And most importantly - ORDERS ARE HERE! It is official and final. We're going to Ft. Leavenworth at the end of June. We have some logistics to work out as we get closer, but we'll be there!

Hope everyone is great!

Sisterhood

I received my first award a couple of days ago! I didn't know that there was such a thing on Blogger. Sometimes I feel like I'm pretty up on what's going on and others I feel like I’m way behind the times! My friend Gisela, from Adventures in Babymaking, passed on to me the Sisterhood Award.

This award represents blogs that show great attitude and/or gratitude. Thanks Gisela! I will be passing the award on to 2 other bloggers.

Thank you to all my blogging friends- I enjoy reading all the blogs – it makes me realize that we’re all in the same boat. And while I believe my boys have come up with these crazy things all on their own…I know they truly are normal, funloving boys!

1-
Emily from The Neu Life: We’re a couple of peas in a pod. She’s one of my best friends and we have kids pretty close in age. She’s been a wife but is new to the military life. I’m proud to have her with me in that adventure. I only wish we lived closer so our kids could be as close as we are!

2- I have known Gisela for several years now. We worked together. Haha! She worked for a mortgage company in Jersey and I worked for a realtor in TX. An unlikely friendship, for sure, but so many similarities! Our boys have birthdays so close together. Our oldest are actually days apart and our second are a year and a few days apart.

Now here's what you do when you receive this.

1. Display this award on your blog.
2. Leave a comment to those you gave it to, letting them know they have it.
3. Link back to the person who gave it to you.
4. Pass it on to 10 or fewer bloggers who you think demonstrate great attitude and/or gratitude.

Sad Day...

Last year at this time, I missed the deadline for the Regis & Kelly beautiful baby contest by hours - I thought it ended at midnight and it ended at 5pm - I was very upset. I spent the last year waiting - anxiously since the first of the year.

I put my pics of the boys in - just SURE I was going to New York with the boys. (Occasionally, reality would set in and I would wonder how I would do that with both boys alone since Matt would have to work and Nana is in the throes of tax season, but...I was SURE...so I'd figure it out...).

Today, the semi-finalists were announced - and the boys weren't chosen again. It's very disappointing! I was so sure - our boys are so cute! All the teachers at school think so. Maybe it should be a video contest so they can see Nick doing a fist bump (and he'll do it with anyone around for 5 minutes...) at 16 mos (Jake taught him in the grocery store). Or Jake telling one of his hysterical stories or doing "hook 'em" - we are from TX, you know!

Oh well - next year, we'll have to spend more time taking pics for this contest. We should have more time in KS since I'll be staying home with the boys.

Here were the pics I chose from to send in. I had a time limit -they had to have been taken within the last month. I don't remember which ones I actually sent in...

Update

Okay, our life is pretty routine - this has become more and more obvious as I try to take pictures of new and interesting things for us. We get up, go to work/school, come home and play, eat dinner, have a bath, watch Cars or Puppies (101 Dalmations) and go to bed.

Jake is a smart boy. He knows his colors really well and is working on his letters and numbers. He has taken over teaching colors to his class. They have a poster with all the colors on it and Jake points to a color: "Red" and then turns to the class "Say RED" - and so on thru all the colors on the poster. His teacher is amused and takes advantage of that time to work on her daily sheets. She was out last week and the sub put crayons on the table in the colors that they would need - red blue and green. The work sheet had mittens outlined in different colors - the theory was that the kids would color the mittens in the color of the outline - Jake was the only one in his class to do them all. The sub was so proud and showed it all over the school.

Nick is FINALLY starting to walk. We still think it was his ears but the doctors aren't in agreement. Whatever - he's walking. He got his first pair of walking shoes this weekend. He graduated to the next class up and is doing great. It was very hard for us to leave Ms. Vicki and Ms. Kim - Nick really loves those ladies; but he's doing great in the new room. He gets to play outside and escapes past the teachers and crawls as fast as he can to the big playground and climbs up. He gets very upset when they catch on and prevent him from going over. He still crawls more often the walks, but it's starting to balance out and we know it won't be long before the walking out-weighs the crawling!

Jake has been sick all weekend so we're hoping he gets over it soon. We're pretty sure a doctor visit is on the agenda tomorrow.

Matt should have his orders this week (hopefully) for Ft Leavenworth and we're busily trying to plan that move. So many unanswered questions right now - but it won't be long and we'll be up there!

Hope this finds you all well!
