Let's paint a picture with words

I don't think I could capture this with a camera, so you'll need to have your imagination for this one...

Matt's in the field today, so the boys and I are hanging out - well, Jake and I are. Nick is still snoozing (12.5 hours later...). The kitchen door is open and it's fine in my head because pots and pans that were toys last night were still out (I ignored the kitchen last night). I hear the pans banging and don't really think anything of it.

Jake comes running out and says "Mommy, I clean up kitchen" - ah, isn't that cute. I love it when he uses his imagination, I enjoy the places it takes us.

He's in there for a lot longer than that normally holds his attention since the Puppy show (101 Dalmations) is on. So I holler - Jake, what are you doing? "I cleaning the kitchen Mommy" - hmmmm....I go investigate.

There is a box of letter cereal (Alpha bits) knocked off the counter and half out of the box, a LOT of water and 2 very wet towels. I asked where he got the water - he said the pan. I don't do Saturday mornings, it takes me forever to engage my brain.

So I look around for a few minutes and finally realize what has happened: I left the pot of water on the stove where Jake could reach it (I boiled eggs last night - long since cooled - no hazard except for a mess...) and apparently, I left the Alphabits too close to the edge, too. Not sure of the logic he used to get them both on the floor but he did...and the water spilled. But he was doing a good job of getting it cleaned up - he had two completely soaked towels and was trying dilligently to finish cleaning up.

Such a good boy, too. "I clean up the kitchen Mommy" - it really should have yielded more reaction the first time, huh? :)

Whacked!

This may not be the most flattering angle or pic – but I did it. I whacked off all my hair! I got tired of the ponytail look…we’ll see how long this lasts before I start letting it grow back out…

Jake's Valentine Candy

Jake enjoyed his Valentine Candy and the Valentines he received in the mail!

Switching to the cup

Nick hasn’t wanted to switch to the cup and I haven’t really pushed it – I figure he’ll do it when he’s ready. But the doctor said we really needed to move to the cup…so today was the first big switch. It was rough at some points, but he did great!

On a side note, his ears were better but still infected. So, we’re on another round of antibiotics with another recheck in 2 weeks…we’ll see. I think that’s contributing to his walking, but the doctor doesn’t think so.

Building a Lego tower with Daddy

Jake at School

Some shots of Jake having fun on the playground at school. When we have outside playtime at school, my class is outside with Jake’s class. He’s getting better at going back in with his class after he’s seen me – it was an adjustment for him.

I was going to post pics of my class, but thought some parents might not appreciate it…

Jake's Valentine Party Treat

I signed up to bring cookies for Jake’s party. My plan was a little flawed when the cookie cutter I used wasn’t quite deep enough to get through the bar cookie. Oh well…it worked for the most part!

Getting Tired

Nick likes his Bear Bear almost as much as Jake. He comes down with us in the mornings and goes back up with us at bedtime (as we clutch him both directions!) Sometimes, as he gets more tired, he cuddles with him.

Playing together

I love the time of night when they play together and giggle. I have such fun watching them play together – and playing referee when required!

After School

This is how you find the boys – at first

Jake is kickin’ back in Daddy’s chair watching Handy Manny

And Nick is playing – he pulls out a ball and says “BALL!” He can identify a foot ball, too!

Monday evening play time with Daddy

Nick was busy hammering those pegs

And Jake had to pose with Bear Bear in order to sit still long enough for a picture… Say Cheese Bear Bear

Sunday afternoon at the Park

We spent Sunday afternoon at the park

I had Nick with me…so there are more pics of him than Jake this time. Jake hung out with Daddy. Nick practiced climbing some more and then spent some time swinging.

A little 9 mo girl spent some time swinging next to us and Nosy Nick couldn’t stop looking at her…

Jake likes to swing (again, the slow camera)

He also enjoyed “riding” his motorcycle

Sunday at the zoo...

We decided to go to the Zoo with Daddy on Sunday (he had to work on Saturday…)

Nick got some practice walking (as long as he was holding on to someone or something)

And both boys had a BLAST playing on the playground at the zoo even if my camera wasn’t fast enough to catch Jake in action (I have a lot of headless shots of him…)

Making Valentines

Jake made Valentines for family on Saturday. We were going to go to the zoo, just Mommy and the boys; but we didn’t feel like getting out of our jammies. So, we didn’t and worked on Valentines instead! Jake had a steady diet of various cereals…and was careful to make sure he had some nearby while working so diligently on his Valentines!
