It's official

Orders are in and we’re still going to Fort Bliss! I love it when it’s what you’re prepared for!

We are going as a family. After some pondering, it really didn’t make much sense to live apart – no matter how badly I want to be back in Central TX. When it’s right, it will happen, I know.

I’m going to go hope for some hot (but will settle for warm) water with which to take a shower…

One of the BEST nights!

The boys and I had the GREATEST time tonight! It ranks pretty high up on the “best nights list”!

Matt had a dinner with the German Exchange Students – part of the program in which he participated in November/December. So the boys & I went to see Playhouse Disney Live in Independence, MO. I didn’t tell them what we were doing until after nap time because the weather was threatening to snow and previous experience said to hold off.

We got in the car after nap and started our trek. When we got there, they pointed out ALL of the characters on the table skirts of the vendors and any where they saw the pictures. We grabbed hot dogs and had dinner (I know, it was a Friday, but my options were limited after we got stuck in traffic in KC…). We got some popcorn and drinks and headed to our seats.

Luckily it was a short time before there was entertainment. The show really tried hard at crowd participation. Jake did well; Nick had to observe for a while first.

We saw: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Cinderella, Woody, Buzz, Jesse & the soldiers from Toy story. Every time the boys saw one of the characters, they got so excited. At the intermission, we finally broke down and got a Stuffed Woody for Nick and a stuffed Buzz for Jake. They both fell asleep with their respective toys tucked in their arms in the car. I haven’t peeked, yet but I’m sure they fell asleep like that in their beds, too!

They were really well behaved and had a BLAST! We talked about it almost all the way home until they started drifting off to dream land. Daddy was home when we got home, so he got a recap with the last of the energy the boys had mustered. It truly was one of the best nights I’ve had with just the boys.

Daddy's Boots

Haircuts

The boys needed haircuts BAD! I finally got tired of looking at them today! After Nap, I got Jake in a barstool and took the scissors to his hair. I was so pleased with how it turned out, I did Nick’s too!

It may not be perfect but short of going to the place with the “cool” seats and TVs (which is pretty pricey…), it’s hard to do haircuts without Matt and he’s been pretty busy. We’ll see how it looks in a couple of days…but right now, they look pretty good!

Play Group

For a change of pace on Monday we went to the Leavenworth City playgroup. The boys had a GREAT time running and playing in the gym!

Fritz's Railroad Restaurant

After Little Monkey Bizness we went to this really neat restaurant. You call on a phone to place your order and the food is brought out by the train. It’s the coolest idea and the boys really enjoyed it – complete with “engineer hats”.

Little Monkey Bizness

There is a place about 45 mins from here called Little Monkey Bizness. It’s an indoor play place for the kids. The boys LOVED it! We’ll go back – but probably not until this round of snow goes away…

Nap time

We separated the boys’ beds so they are no longer in the same room the last week of January. Jake had a hard time adjusting for the first few naptimes… He woke up early one day and Matt turned on his (current) favorite “Chuggington” and he fell back asleep…

Learning about the Postal Service

Jake will be learning about the Postal Service for the next several weeks in his class. They have mail boxes all set up with their names and everything. The teachers sent home a note that said if anyone was interested in sending notes to them through the actual post office, they will get distributed in class. If you are interested...here is the address:

Fort Leavenworth CDC
c/o Jake Savoie Adventure Room
120 Dickman Ave
Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027

I think it's a great idea! Nick made a picture at the station outside their door today. We'll probably work on a couple of more things!

New Assignment

The assignment finally came down. Matt will be going to Fort Bliss, TX. Further news as it develops! We're glad to be headed back to TX!
