Doing things right...

Usually on school mornings, the boys wake up before I get up and functional and they join me in bed where we watch TV or just snuggle back down for a few minutes.

This morning, Jake came in just as I was pulling up the bed proudly proclaiming he waited until Mr. Sun got up before getting up himself. He snuggled down on my pillows, so I laid back down with him.

Then Nick came in looking pretty groggy. So, we were all laying on the bed trying to greet the Monday morning. I was talking to them about the day, etc.

Me: I love you, Jakey Bakey!
Jake: I wuvz you too Momma!
Me: I love you Nick Pickle!
Nick: I know!

I kind of chuckled...so he kept saying it.

Then we drove Jake to school. I unbuckled Jake's seat and he climbed over to Nick and said "Bye Bud, have a good day! I love you!"

Ahhhh...I'll hold on to that forever, if I have to. I know they'll be fighting again when they get home!

Updates...again...

I don't know what it is. The more I'm home, the less time I seem to have... I am so thankful to be able to stay "home" with the boys. We have a great time and I have no idea how I'd still take care of the house, cook dinners, etc. I would, of course, just do it, as I "just do it" now...but the thought overwhelms me sometimes. I'll continue to do my ad-writing from home...

Jake has settled into school pretty well. We had a rough week recently with him not listening at school. The boys are typically better listeners for everyone but us and that is really okay with me. I would rather they put their best foot (feet?) forward when they are at school, or sports or whatever. And with Jake, it's circular reasoning:

Me: Jake, why didn't you get a stamp?

Jake: Well, I wanted to...

Me: Right but you have to listen. Ms. Mabry says you weren't listening today...

Jake: Well, I just wanted a stamp

Me: Okay, well, I think we're extra tired, so we're going straight home for snooze - no TV or playing before snooze

Jake: NOOOOOOOO!

So, we did that twice. I finally emailed his teacher to inquire further details. It was during circle time - and Jake has always had trouble with circle time. If he's not interested, he's much more easily distracted by fellow students and that appears to have been what the problem was. So, a few more talks, and I *THINK* we have it licked...last week he won the trip to the prize box

In addition to that, the soccer season is upon us. It is a non-competitive league - and some parents, I'm sure, will need to be reminded of that. The sports dept has been completely overwhelmed - they apparently didn't think having 1st Armored Division moving in this summer would have affected their sports participation...and were short of coaches, and seriously disorganized on uniform ordering, among other things. I volunteered to be a coach for Jake's team since they were still looking 4 days before practice started. The only hitch with that is I know exactly TWO things about soccer: No hands and kick the ball in the goal...

We'll see how it goes...pictures are coming!
