Let's paint a picture with words

I don't think I could capture this with a camera, so you'll need to have your imagination for this one...

Matt's in the field today, so the boys and I are hanging out - well, Jake and I are. Nick is still snoozing (12.5 hours later...). The kitchen door is open and it's fine in my head because pots and pans that were toys last night were still out (I ignored the kitchen last night). I hear the pans banging and don't really think anything of it.

Jake comes running out and says "Mommy, I clean up kitchen" - ah, isn't that cute. I love it when he uses his imagination, I enjoy the places it takes us.

He's in there for a lot longer than that normally holds his attention since the Puppy show (101 Dalmations) is on. So I holler - Jake, what are you doing? "I cleaning the kitchen Mommy" - hmmmm....I go investigate.

There is a box of letter cereal (Alpha bits) knocked off the counter and half out of the box, a LOT of water and 2 very wet towels. I asked where he got the water - he said the pan. I don't do Saturday mornings, it takes me forever to engage my brain.

So I look around for a few minutes and finally realize what has happened: I left the pot of water on the stove where Jake could reach it (I boiled eggs last night - long since cooled - no hazard except for a mess...) and apparently, I left the Alphabits too close to the edge, too. Not sure of the logic he used to get them both on the floor but he did...and the water spilled. But he was doing a good job of getting it cleaned up - he had two completely soaked towels and was trying dilligently to finish cleaning up.

Such a good boy, too. "I clean up the kitchen Mommy" - it really should have yielded more reaction the first time, huh? :)

NICE JOB JAKE! I had a very vivid picture of that in my mind, amazing what these little ones can do!
