It must be something seeing your kids have kids. Mom & Dad tell us frequently how well Matt & I are doing with the boys. I read/have read a couple of books trying not to screw them up (at least not beyond repair, right?) and Dad reminds me that the three of us turned out pretty good and there weren't a lot of books on the subject - or maybe it wasn't the thing. Either way - he's right...we all turned out pretty good.
But nothing in a book prepares you for the day your 2 1/4 year old son decides to take off his clothes and I had Sean & Joe to watch. Jake had a fever today so I had to get him from daycare early. After the miracle drugs of Tylenol and Motrin, he was back to his regular self. I guess he decided his pull up was full enough.
He undid one side of it, looked down and said "No stinkies in there" and proceded to take it off. He then smartly went for a diaper - one of Nick's. Eager to watch this unfold, I handed him a diaper of his own and watched him some more. He went over to his toddler sized sofa and tried to put the diaper on himself. Not so much - so I helped. He then put his shorts on-correctly.
Thinking we were on the right track, I turned back to the task at hand - feeding Nick. There goes Jake again, taking off his shorts. Then his diaper - which he then placed in a box I had just emptied from a delivery. He ran around giggling for a while and even managed to go in the potty.
I watched all of this unfold thinking I should grab a camera but I didn't want to distract him. I'm sure it's not as funny in words as it was in person, but thought you all might get a little kick out of it!

Trip to Killeen
The boys & I had a great time visiting in Killeen this last weekend. Matt had to work all weekend, so he wasn't able to join us on this trip.
They are both pretty good travelers - the DVD player helps and so did moving them on opposite sides of the SUV.
They enjoyed seeing everyone and showing off their talents of the moment. Jake showed just about everyone everything from whiney to smiley happy Jake. He was happy to get up in the morning at "Aunt Jill's House" where there were kitties for him to torment - I mean play with. One kitty did something to him - I'm still not sure what but he came running to me and said "the Kiy the kiy" I asked what the kitty said (DUH Mommy...) Jake replied, "the kitty said meow meow" - I fell out laughing so Jake kept repeating it.
We got to visit Big Rick and Gramma Eva. Jake played hauled their cooler on wheels all over the pool deck. Sunday afternoon, he wheeled it right over to Eva, fished below the bottles of beer to the cans of her preferred beer and handed her one. What a kid, huh? Nana better lock the fridge before we get there for Thanksgiving or everyone will be getting beer!
